Department of public health is responsible to promote the health and well-being of all residents by ensuring access to high-quality public health and healthcare services, focusing on prevention, promotion and wellness, and health equity for all.

Development of vaccination guidelines, enhance immunization coverages to the regions, districts and remote areas; ensure provision of basic primary health care services and health promotion & media outreach, TB, HIV, Malaria, neglected tropical disease, coordinate nutrition and food security areas; mental health, environmental health & WASH (Unit) functions; gradually establish capacities and knowledge for addressing non-communicable diseases.

The Public Health Director will oversee departmental operations to meet public health service requirements and the needs of the Galmudug state.

• Advising DG and Minister in general on all aspects of Public Health Services,
• Mapping of the availability of the related programs in the health facilities, hospitals and communities,
• Evaluate and Monitor the quality of related service provision in the country,
• Implement recommendations and lessons learned related to the PH programs.
